FUTUROLOGY

Our Cluster is Futurology.  Ms. Mullins is our facilitator.  We have studied the future --- trends now that may appear in the future and we have focused on transportation of the future, architecture and architectural design of the future, and megacities. We have watched a lot of images of the future in movies, on websites, and inventions and designs.  Students love exploring the Frank Lloyd Wright 3D Architecture Studio on their netbooks and on the Smartboard.  They have designed and made models of cities of the future. We had a guest speaker, a former Barrow Buddy, who is an 8th grade Science Fair winner.  She brought her homemade hovercraft and all the students got to "ride" or hover on it! We have fun watching movie trailers of old movies that predicted the future like Star Wars and 2001: A Space Odyssey.  Some students are making a model robot. Others are making posters and displays of future transportation. Two are making a photostory about the future. One is using SketchUp to design a futuristic building and later to evolve into a futuristic city. Our only young lady in the cluster has written a wonderful poem about the future as Utopia or Dystopia.
